A Clinical Study on the Anti-Anxiety Effect of Clotiazepam



Abstract
A double-blind study of clotiazepam and placebo was studied to compare the anti-anxiety effect and side effects of clotiazepam with those of placebo. The patients were assigned at random to clotiazepam (30mg/day) treated group or placebo treated
group.
Treatment period was 3 weeks and we assessed the patients before the treatment and at the end of 1 week and 3 weeks. The assessment by Hamiton anxiety scale revealed that clotiazepam was more effective than placebo in anxiolytic action. Global
symptoms
change was more remarkable in clotiazepam treated group than placebo treated group and there was no significant difference in terms of safety between two groups. The severe side effects of clotiazepam were not reported. And most of them are mild
and the
most common side effect was sleepiness.
